Well-chosen, well-designed and appropriately delivered training can help the learning process, but is only part of the package of measures that support learning. Training is an event, learning is a process. Mackie Consulting now delivers very little training. The four key areas we do focus on for “training” is Intercultural Communication, Business Writing, Coaching and Presenting. Whilst none of these areas can be totally divorced from everyday behaviour and actions, they contain a higher degree of “technical” knowledge and the topics lend themselves to short, intensive periods of practice and review. So what do we do? We like to think we support our clients in the learning and change process. How do we do this? We encourage a holistic approach by getting the view from the top, middle and bottom of the organisation, before we even start with suggestions for training and other developmental changes. |
